ARTIST OF THE MONTH Wiz Propane
Wiz Propane was born Maurice Blake on November 20 1982 in Compton, Ca. Growing up in a city filled with gang activity, Wiz Propane started writing rhymes at the age of eleven to keep his focus on a more positive note. At the age of seventeen Wiz Propane (known as Young Rece da Wiz Kid) at this time, formed a group with three friends called Compton Hard Hittaz. The Compton Hard Hittaz consist of Mic Knight, Da Go Getta, and Cheese. As a group they put out three independent underground albums and performed in surrounding cities creating a local buzz. Feeling that it was not enough to feed Wiz’s hunger, he decided to go solo in 06, yet keeping his loyalty to his group. Seeing that it was to many Wiz Kids, he changed his name to Wiz Propane. The Wiz symbolizes the cleverness and wittiness in his rhymes, while the Propane symbolizes the fire, hunger, and passion he has for the music. Wiz Propane released his first independent solo mixtape “A Dolla And A Dream” in April 2007 that quickly built a major buzz locally and in other states. This lead to Wiz Propane performing on many stages ranging from local cities to out of state venues. This gave fuel to his “Campane” movement which is his team of supporters and his CREAMM inc. imprint, which is an acronym for, “Creating Riches Entertaining Applying Magnificent Magic”. He also aligned himself with high school friend Cali Trav and his imprint B.A.Ent., who acts as a partner helping to book shows, features, etc. Some of Wiz Propane influences are Michael Jackson, 2Pac, Jay-Z, and Eminem. With his witty word play and unique style, Wiz Propane is sure to bring some attention back to the Westcoast and take the music industry on an interesting ride.
